Loboes take down Lions

The LaMoure-Litcville-Marion boys basketball team put a nice second period together, helping the Loboes scoot past the Linton-HMB Lions 54-31 in LaMoure on Saturday.

The LaMoure-Litcville-Marion boys basketball team put a nice second period together, helping the Loboes scoot past the Linton-HMB Lions 54-31 in LaMoure on Saturday.

The Loboes limited the Lions to just two points in the second, while tossing in 16 points of their own, to take a 26-15 lead into the locker room at the half. The Loboes shot a respectable 45 percent from inside the three-point arc during the game. They also led the rebounding battle 31-17, led by Kenny Hodem and Anthony Olson with eight rebounds each.

Olson also paced the winning team with 17 points, followed by Jared Meiklejohn with 15 and Brady Thielges with 11. Linton-HMB was led by Ryan Schneider’s 13 points.

A fast start by Four Winds-Minnewaukan sank Grafton in Fort Totten.

The Indians outpaced the Spoilers 21-3 after one period and they set the cruise from there. Trayvon Mckay hit a trey and dropped in seven of his game-high 17 points in the first. A total of 10 Four Winds-Minnewaukan players scored in the game.

Grafton, who went just 3-for-11 at the free-throw line, was led by Christian Lunde’s 13 points.

Mustangs win Early Bird tourney

South Border racked up a team score of 240.5 points, easily cruising to the team victory during the Napoleon Early Bird wrestling tournament in Napoleon on Saturday.

South Border’s Tyler Toepke-Floyd (106 pounds), Andy Nolz (120), Blake Bosch (126), Chozey Schumacher (220) and Dillon Braaten (285) all rumbled to individual titles on the day to lead the Mustangs in the nine-team tourney.
