Optimist Club cites athletes for awards

Alex Lind and Jaden Horsted of Jamestown High School and Jamestown College’s Jessica Buck and Jade Johnson have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Lind, a senior gymnast at JHS, won four of five events, including the all around with a score of 37.45 at the season-opening Aberdeen Triangular.

Horsted, a senior wrestler for the Blue Jays, won his weight class at 132 pounds and posted a pin against Turtle Mountain to go a perfect 7-0 for the week.

Buck, a freshman on the JC basketball team from Burnsville, Minn., had 16 points, six rebounds, four blocks, three assists and two steals in the Jimmies’ win over Trinity Bible College.

Johnson, a sophomore from West Fargo on the JC soccer team, had both goals in the Jimmies 3-2 loss to Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) at the NAIA national tournament.
