Two drivers died Friday when their vehicles collided head-on four miles south of Grand Forks, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The patrol said the crash happened at 4 p.m. on Grand Forks County Road 81. An 86-year-old Buxton, N.D., man driving a 2002 Saturn SL was northbound on the road when his vehicle collided head-on with a southbound 2002 Chrysler Town & Country van while they were negotiating a curve.

The Buxton man died at the scene, the patrol said. The other driver, a 78-year-old Northwood, N.D., man, was transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, where he died of his injuries, the patrol said.

The Buxton driver was wearing a seat belt; the Northwood man was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
