MINOT (AP) — A North Dakota city in the middle of the state’s oil boom is poised to top $300 million in new building permits for 2012.
Minot officials said the explosion in requests for permits includes commercial and residential projects. They said the hotel market has been especially busy.
City inspectors list total activity for the year at nearly $292 million as of Nov. 30.
The city saw nearly $65 million in building permits in October, the highest monthly total. Officials said contractors were pushing to get work done before the ground froze.
Dee Falkinburg, a clerk in the city inspection office, told the Minot Daily News that “you can’t drive around town without seeing something going up.”
