Lind takes 6th on floor

A strong performance by Alex Lind in the floor exercise helped the Jamestown standout to second place at the Milo Dullum Meet on Friday night in Dickinson.

Lind had a score of 9.425 not far behind floor champion Jessica Gabriel of Bismarck Century, who finished with a 9.450. Gabriel also won the uneven parallel bars (9.6), the vault (9.6) and the all-around (37.050).

Dickinson won the meet with a 146.0, while Minot (141.425) and Bismarck Century (135.275) were second and third, respectively. Jamestown was fourth out of seven teams with a 134.725. The meet was not finished when the Sun went to press on Friday night.

Lind also tied for fourth in the bars with a 9.1 and was sixth in the vault with a 9.250 for an all-around score of 36.125, which placed her fifth.

The only other placer in the top 10 for the Jays was Jenna Stilwell, who tied for ninth in the vault with a 9.150.

Dickinson's Chantel Urlacher was the other winner on the day, winning the balance beam with a score of 9.4.

The Blue Jays are back in action on when they host a meet at 5 p.m. Friday.
