Optimist Club cites athletes for awards

Amber Schaack and Ben Harris of Jamestown High School and Jamestown College’s Bridget Schuneman and Antonio Lopez have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Schaack, a senior on the JHS girls hockey team, had the game-winning goal in their 2-1 win over Minot and had two goals for the 5-1 Blue Jays in their 5-4 win over Williston. Schaack has 98 career goals.

Harris, a sophomore swimmer at JHS, won the 100 breaststroke and scored 106.50 points in diving against Bismarck.

Schuneman, a senior from Lino Lakes, Minn., on the JC women’s basketball team, had 20 points and seven rebounds in the Jimmies 72-57 win over Dickinson State.

Lopez, a sophomore from Paramount, Calif., placed second at heavyweight at the Husky Open in St. Cloud, Minn.
