The Jamestown College volleyball program picked up three players, announced on Wednesday.
Defensive specialist Michelle Glass, setter Elise Peterson and outside hitter JaeLyn Russell will all be eligible for the Jimmies, starting in 2013.
Glass, who will compete for the track and field team starting in January, is a native of Eagle, Idaho, and is a transfer for Boise State. She was an NWAAC North Region all-star selection.
“I am excited to have Michelle join our program this spring,” JC coach Jon Hegerle said. “We anticipate that Michelle will help us in our efforts in shoring up our back row after losing three of our primary back row players to graduation. … She is a talented athlete and a young woman of strong character whom we expect will be a great complement to our existing team culture.”
Peterson, from Kasson, Minn., earned all-conference honors for Kasson-Mantorville High School. She had 712 assists, 585 digs, 302 kills and 70 aces during her career for K-M, which was ranked No. 2 in Minnesota’s Class AA poll for much of the season.
“Elise’s work ethic has allowed her to excel in a variety of positions in her high school and club seasons,” Hegerle said. “Elise’s enthusiasm for her team and for competition is unmatched and will have an immediate impact on our program.”
Russell, who went to Mandan, was an all-WDA selection. She recorded 226 kills, 330 digs and 33 aces her senior season.
“JaeLyn is a first-rate competitor and a top-notch teammate and will be a great addition to the Jimmie volleyball program,” Hegerle said. “I am looking forward to working with JaeLyn in the future.”
