Class B roundup: Barnes County title game set

Valley City will meet Maple Valley in the Barnes County Tournament title game Saturday night. The Hi-Liners bombed in 10 three-pointers in a narrow 60-58 semifinal win over Milnor Thursday night at the Bubble in Valley City. Chase Carpenter sank six 3s en route to a game-high 26 points. Mason Denholm added 14 in the win.

Valley City will meet Maple Valley in the Barnes County Tournament title game Saturday night.

The Hi-Liners bombed in 10 three-pointers in a narrow 60-58 semifinal win over Milnor Thursday night at the Bubble in Valley City.

Chase Carpenter sank six 3s en route to a game-high 26 points. Mason Denholm added 14 in the win.

Milnor was topped by Briton Bussman’s 26 points and 10 rebounds. The Bison outscored the Hi-Liners 20-11 in the fourth quarter, but they cost themselves at the free-throw line, missing 15 of 33 attempts.

Maple Valley got a measure of payback on LaMoure-Litchville-Marion in the other semi.

James Richman’s double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds carried the Raiders over the Loboes 55-45. Jordan Haseleu added 19 points.

Jared Meiklejohn splashed in three triples and accounted for 23 of the Loboes’ total.

Enderlin and Griggs County Central won consolation games to open the day.

Jamestown College recruit Coltin Huus had 15 points and 20 rebounds to help the Eagles toppled Finley-Sharon-Hope-Page 64-23.

The Eagles did not allow a single point in the second quarter. Daniel Lindgren added 14 points in the win.

Kris Wathne poured in 28 points for Griggs County Central in its 61-42 win over Barnes County North. Wathne added 13 rebounds in his monster performance for the Cougars.

Jacoby Kramlich and Derek Fletcher combined for 30 points to lead the Bison with 18 and 12 points, respectively.

As Linton-HMB racked up the fouls, the Strasburg-Zeeland Clippers sank free throws and overcame a 26-21 halftime deficit to defeat the Lions by 10 points in Linton.

The Clippers went to the line 22 times in the second half and converted 15 of those shots, as the Lions’ Mason Ryckman, Tyler Humann and Jonathon Purintun would all eventually foul out of the game.

Kyle Niewusma scored a game-high 20 for the Clippers, while the Lions were led by Ryan Schneider with 14 points.

Nathan Mangin and Jenner Manske each finished with 13 points as Lisbon cruised past Oakes 58-24.

Lisbon led 17-5 after the first and laid claim to a 34-18 lead at halftime, never letting the Tornadoes get within striking distance. The Broncos also received 12 points from Brett Bartholomay.

Oakes was led by Bryce Meehl, who scored seven points.
