Jakobi Lux scored on an assist from Jake Stilwell to get within one goal with 2 minutes, 3 seconds remaining, but Century clinched it with an empty-netter 17 seconds later to come away with 4-2 West Region win.
“I thought we came out and went after it really well in all three periods,” JHS coach Matt Stockert said. “Overall, it was a good way to go into a 14-day break before Devils Lake.”
The Blue Jays (3-3 region, 3-4 overall) fell behind 2-1 in the first period, getting a goal from Brandon Stahlhut with an assist from Dakotah Spitzer.
Century’s Alec Rauhauser scored midway through the third on the power play to give his team a 3-1 lead. Patriots goalie Jack Abfalter stopped 27 shots in the win.
Jamestown, which hosts Devils Lake on Dec. 28, received 32 saves from netminder Ben Walz.
“We’re starting to figure it out,” Stockert said. “We’ll get better from here.”
