A high-risk sex offender has moved to a new address in Jamestown, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

Jamal Joel Anderson, 32, lives at 1012 10th St. SE #9. He is described as a black male, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He drives a tan 1996 Nissan Maxima with Minnesota license plate UVZ149.

Anderson has been assigned a high-risk assessment by the North Dakota Risk Level Committee through the North Dakota Attorney General’s Office.

Anderson was convicted of aggravated assault and unlawful entry into a vehicle, both Class C felonies, in March 1999. He was accused of striking a 17-year-old boy on the back and face with a baseball bat. The boy required five stitches to close a wound on his face. Anderson was sentenced to five years, suspended, and placed on supervised probation.

Anderson was also convicted of sexual assault in March 1999. Anderson and another man were accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. Anderson was sentenced to 30 days in jail.

In 2001, Anderson was convicted of corrupting a minor and violating a sex offender registration requirement. He was accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl since she was 15 years old. He was sentenced to one year in jail on the corruption of a minor and sex offender registration requirement. The sentences ran concurrent.

Anderson is not wanted by police at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court. The notification is intended for public safety and not to increase fear in the community. The information should also not be used to threaten, assault or intimidate Anderson. Attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten him or his family, landlord or employer will be turned over for prosecution.

Printed handouts of Anderson’s demographics are available at the Jamestown Police Department.
