HOUGHTON, Mich. (AP) — Danny Kristo had a goal and two assists and Corban Knight had a goal and an assist as North Dakota beat Michigan Tech 4-1 Saturday for a sweep of their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.
With the win, North Dakota moved into a second-place tie with Denver. Both teams have 17 points and are one point behind St. Cloud State.
“Our focus was good,” North Dakota coach Dave Hakstol said. “Tonight was more consistent than last night. It was a hard-fought game but I like the way we settled down after the first 10 minutes of the game.”
Kristo and Knight each finished with six points in the two-game series, which ended with UND’s first WCHA sweep of the season.
Knight had four points in Friday’s 6-1 win. His point-scoring streak reached 13 games.
Mark MacMillan and Colten St. Clair also scored for North Dakota (10-5-3, 7-2-3). Clarke Saunders had 31 saves, including a save on a penalty shot.
“He really stood his ground and showed some patience,” Hakstol said.
David Johnstone had the only goal for Michigan Tech (4-10-3, 3-8-3).
St. Clair scored the game’s first goal, but the Huskies got a power play on the celebration and tied it 28 seconds later.
Kristo broke the tie in the first and North Dakota put it away with two goals in the second.
