The Napoleon High School girls basketball team got a big win over Beach last weekend, and its dominance is reflected in the first Class B state poll.

The Imperials are second with 99 points including one first-place vote. The other 11 first-place votes went to Minot Bishop Ryan, which also had a big weekend with wins over New Town and Thompson, both of whom are also represented in the poll.

Four Winds-Minnewaukan moved from seventh to sixth in the boys poll, where it’s tied with Des Lacs-Burlington with 54 points.

North Star remains on top with eight first-place votes, while Beulah is second with four first-place votes.

The two teams play each other in Cando on Friday night in a small jamboree-style tournament, and they aren’t the only heavy hitters involved. Third-ranked Cavalier plays ninth-ranked Rugby right before. On Saturday, North Star plays Rugby and Four Winds-Minnewaukan meets Beulah.

Maple Valley received votes in the poll after winning the Barnes County tournament, knocking LaMoure-Litchville-Marion out in the process.
