I want to send a giant “thank you” to the members of the local Fraternal Order of Police and all of the officers and personnel who give of themselves each year to make Cops ‘n’ Kids possible. We have had the privilege of participating for several years and it is hard to say who has more fun — the children or the officers.
The delight on the faces of the children as they pick out gifts for themselves as well as siblings and parents is heartwarming. An extra thank you to Santa for taking time out of his busy schedule to spend time with the children, to the associates who help make this fun for the kids and to The Jamestown Sun’s staff for being there to raise awareness of the program.
During the course of the shopping spree, I was stopped by an officer who was thanked by a shopper for what he was doing. The pleasure on his face was priceless. I was also stopped by a shopper who had read about the program in the paper in prior years but had no idea of the excitement generated for the children or the holiday spirit rejuvenated in all involved. The positive interaction between these children and the law enforcement officials is the added bonus. Please continue to support the local FOP so that this program may touch the lives of children for many years to come.
