Kris Wathne and Riley Nelson combined for 33 points as Griggs County Central overcame a slow start to defeat Dakota Prairie 62-47 Monday night in Class B basketball action in Cooperstown.

Wathne led the Cougars with 18 points, while Riley Nelson added 15 as they trailed 11-8 after eight minutes, but outscored the Knights 32-11 in the middle two frames.

Dakota Prairie caught fire in the fourth quarter, scoring 27 points but it was not enough. Bryce Messner paced the Knights with 18 points. Dalton Flagan added 10 in defeat.
