N.D. third quarter taxable sales up

Taxable sales and purchases in North Dakota during July, August and September grew nearly 23 percent compared to the third quarter of last year, to more than $6.7 billion

BISMARCK (AP) — Taxable sales and purchases in North Dakota during July, August and September grew nearly 23 percent compared to the third quarter of last year, to more than $6.7 billion.

Tax Commissioner Cory Fong said North Dakota’s wholesale and retail trade sectors were strong performers in the third quarter. Thirteen of 15 industries reported growth during the third quarter of 2012. Two sectors reported a slowdown: educational, health care and social services, and transportation and warehousing.
