Class B roundup: Bulldogs, Panthers in CNDC girls title tilt

Benson County and Rolla will meet in the CNDC title game tonight in Fessenden. Sara Schwanke scored 16 points and Becca Eberle added 10 for Benson County in its 53-28 win over New Rockford-Sheyenne.

Benson County and Rolla will meet in the CNDC title game tonight in Fessenden.

Sara Schwanke scored 16 points and Becca Eberle added 10 for Benson County in its 53-28 win over New Rockford-Sheyenne.

Lacey Grann led the Rockets with 12 points.

In the other semi, Rolla outscored Rugby 6-4 in overtime for a narrow 43-41 triumph.

Alli Vandal led Rolla with 15 points, while Rugby was paced by Aubrey Hovland’s 14 points.

Towner-Granville-Upham hung 76 points on the board to rout St. John in the first consolation game.

Mattie Schmitt had the hot hand with 23 points.

Harvey-Wells County will meet T-G-U for fifth today after the Hornets downed Drake-Anamoose 56-31.

Alecia Koropatnicki paced the Hornets with 19 points. Haley Fornshell contributed 14.

Thursday

Benson County, New Rockford-Sheyenne, Rolla and Rugby all advanced to the semifinals of the CNDC Girls Basketball Tournament in Harvey on Thursday.

Benson County used 18 points from Sara Schwanke, and 16 more for Andrea Jorgenson, to cruise past the St. John Woodchucks 60-26.

The Wildcats were stingy in the first half against the Woodchucks, allowing just 9 total first-half points which included giving up just a pair of free throws in the second to lead 36-9 at the break. Savannah Bruce led St. John with 12 points.

New Rockford-Sheyenne eked out a 36-35 victory over Towner-Granville-Upham in a defensive nail-biter. After leading 16-10 at the half, NR-S fell behind 25-23 after three before outscoring the Titans 13-10 in the final period.

Lexi Webber went a perfect 4 of 4 from the free-throw line in the fourth period for the Rockets. NR-S was led by Lace Grann with 14 points, while the Titans’ Mattie Schmitt posted a team-high 12 points.

Rugby’s Shea Heidlebaugh sank three first-period 3-pointers, helping the Panthers roll big over the Drake-Anamoose Raiders, 61-26

Rolla rolled past the host team Harvey-Wells County 44-38, behind 14 points from Alli Vandal. The Bulldogs led 28-12 at the half, but the Hornets fought back to make a game out of it in the second half.

Kara Fike led the Hornets with 14 points.

The Imperials had just enough gas in the tank to squeak past the home team Firebirds by four points.

Trent Fettig was the high man for Napoleon, hitting a trey and scoring 14 points. Napoleon trailed 19-18 at the half, but bounced back to outscore the Firebirds 21-5 in the third to take a 39-24 lead and never looked back.

Brett Williams sank a trio of three-pointers in the game and led the Firebirds with 15 points.
