State approves oil cleanup plan
A state Health Department official said agencies have agreed on a cleanup plan where an estimated 1,500 barrels of fluid blew out of control at an oil well near Parshall.
BISMARCK (AP) — A state Health Department official said agencies have agreed on a cleanup plan where an estimated 1,500 barrels of fluid blew out of control at an oil well near Parshall.
Environmental health chief David Glatt told the Bismarck Tribune that Slawson Exploration Co. will scrape up snow that’s holding the oily mist.
Several state and federal agencies are involved because the spill was about a half-mile from Lake Sakakawea and near a state wildlife management area.
Glatt said the mist covered a fairly large area, but was thin and didn’t result in a high concentration of contamination.
Slawson spokesman Kyle Waliezer said his company already has removed several tons of snow from the well site.
