Music/Drama/

Comedy

An Evening with The McIntyres is at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 4 at the Arts Center. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $8 for adults and $3 for students.

Special Events

A screening of “Casablanca” is at 7 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Arts Center. There is no admission charge.

Wine and cheese tasting 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Arts Center. Tickets are $30 and available at the Arts Center.

Around Town

Wood carving with a local wood carving group is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays in the Arts Center’s Hansen Studio. There is no charge. Call Andy Kudrna at 320-5075 with questions.

A photography interest group meets from 1 to 3 p.m. the first Sunday of the month at the Hansen Arts Studio. There is no charge.

Public skating is from 7 to 9 p.m. Sundays through Jan. 27 at Wilson Arena. Cost for children is $2, adults $3 and rentals $2. For more information on special packages, call Jamestown Parks and Recreation at 252-3982 or Wilson Arena at 252-3939.

Outdoor ice skating at Meidinger, McElroy, Leapadlt and Nickeus parks, is from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. There is no admission charge but skaters must bring their own skates.

Sledding hill at the Bunker is from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sundays. There is no admission charge.

Open swimming is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Jamestown High School Pool. There is no admission charge. Children under 12 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Libraries/etc.

National Buffalo Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and by appointment only on Sunday. Admission: $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and AAA members, $10 for a family and $1 for children ages 6 to 18.

Alfred Dickey Library hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. To access the Story Line, call 252-7464. The library is located at 105 Third St. SE.

Stutsman County Library hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The library is located at 910 Fifth St. SE.

The Arts Center, 115 Second St. SW, Jamestown, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and by appointment Sunday. There is no admission charge.

The Putnam House in Carrington is open for special events and by appointment by calling 701-652-2090. There is no admission charge.

The Barnes County Historical Museum, 315 Central Ave. N, Valley City, is open year round from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is a freewill donation.

The Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile Historic Site near Cooperstown is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Thursday through Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults, $3 for children, $1 for a child, $30 for family season passes and $15 for an individual season pass. Contact Mark Sundlov at 701-797-3691 for more information.

Midland Continental Railroad Depot Featuring Peggy Lee in Wimbledon, N.D., is open by appointment by calling 701-435-2333. Admission is a freewill donation.

The Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center near Pingree is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. The refuge trail system is open daily sunrise to sunset.

Art

A contemporary cowboy art exhibit by Walter Piehl Jr. may be viewed at the Arts Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, until Jan. 12. There is no admission charge.

Classes

Arts after school classes for children in grades 3 through 5 is from 3:30 to 5 p.m. every school day starting Jan. 7. Forms for registration are available at the Arts Center. Costs vary. For more information call the Arts Center at 251-2496. Preregistration is required.

Saturday Showtime, for children in grades 1 through 6 is from 10:30 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of each month at the Arts Center. Cost is $5 for Arts Center members and $7 for others.

An Artful Happy Hour starts around 5 p.m., the second Tuesday of each month at the Hansen Arts Studio. There is no admission cost. Participants are welcome to bring a beverage of choice and complete art projects.
