VALLEY CITY — The Jamestown High School boys basketball team didn’t have an answer for Chase Carpenter or Mason Denholm on Friday night.

The Valley City duo combined for 48 points in the Hi-Liners’ 81-51 victory at the Hi-Liners Activity Center.

They also combined for 13 points as Valley City opened the game with a 28-5 run and never looked back, sending Jamestown to 0-4 on the season.

The Blue Jays, which trailed 36-16 at halftime, struggled on offense most of the night. It plagued them early in the second half too, when the Hi-Liners used a variety of small runs to distance themselves even further. Jared Lentz added 13 points and Tayler Lentz finished with eight.

Jamestown played the entire roster, as 13 of 14 scored at least a point. Lucas Keller was the Blue Jays’ best bet for offense with a team-high 10 points. Ashton Johnson tallied seven.

The game ended after 10 p.m. due to the late start after the three previous games fell behind schedule.
