New ND hotel tests portable lodging concept

A new hotel under construction in Alexander will test a lodging concept in North Dakota's oil patch.

ALEXANDER, N.D. (AP) — A new hotel under construction in Alexander will test a lodging concept in North Dakota's oil patch.

The Minot Daily News reports that the 70-room Shut Eye Hotel is slated to open this month. The hotel is a modular, steel structure designed to go up in 90 days. Officials say it can be disassembled just as quickly.

Company officials say the concept is popular in Europe.
