Class B roundup: Cards in tourney title

Breana Barton had 14 points to help the Carrington High School girls basketball team to a fourth-quarter rally and a 54-53 win over North Star in the semifinals of the Ramsey County Tournament on Friday in Devils Lake.

Josey Page finished with 12 points and Kayla Hochhalter added 11 for the Cardinals, who trailed at the end of the first three quarter breaks.

North Star’s Sarah Hagler had a team-high 17 points in the loss.

The win propelled the Cardinals into the championship against defending Region 4 champion Lakota-Adams-Edmore, which took down Devils Lake’s JV team 48-31. The game is slated for 5:30 p.m. today and will be preceded by Devils Lake JV and North Star’s third-place game at 4 p.m.

Drayton-Valley-Edinberg downed Dakota Prairie 52-21, and Munich-Starkweather took care of Four Winds-Minnewaukan 60-38 to make the fifth-place game, which is set for 2:30 p.m. Dakota Prairie and FW-M meet for seventh at 1 p.m.

Napoleon standouts Sheridon Dewald and Kendra Weigel, both 1,000-point scorers, did not play. Katelyn Long had 12 points and JaCee Schmidt added 10 for Napoleon, which trailed by only four after three quarters.
