DOJ: Former Three Affiliated officer arrested
The U.S. Department of Justice says a former officer with the Three Affiliated Tribes has been arrested after being indicted on civil rights and obstruction violations.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The U.S. Department of Justice says a former officer with the Three Affiliated Tribes has been arrested after being indicted on civil rights and obstruction violations.
The department says that 57-year-old old Lindrith Tsoodle was arrested on the Rocky Boy Reservation in Montana Thursday.
The indictment alleges that Tsoodle, while acting in his capacity as a police officer in December 2010, assaulted a suspect during an arrest while the man was handcuffed. It alleges that Tsoodle slammed the man against a wall, excessively tightened his handcuffs and shoved him into a police car.
The indictment accuses Tsoodle of using pepper spray on him before striking him repeatedly with his body and a baton.
Attorney information for Tsoodle was not immediately available.
This case is being investigated by the FBI.
