GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A man who once lived in North Dakota has donated $20,000 to a Grand Forks homeless shelter.

The Grand Forks Herald reports (http://bit.ly/URQlu0) that Dale Halvorson, a former resident of Larimore, N.D., donated the money that will pay for two washers and dryers to the Northlands Rescue Mission.

The mission provides clean bed linens, bath towels and other items to residents. Residents can also use the laundry facilities for their clothing.

Executive director David Sena says that 122 people on average stayed in the shelter each night during 2012.
