Coach Brandon Bata led his Oakes Tornadoes past his former high school stomping grounds Saturday night as Oakes topped Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal 70-52 in Class B basketball action.
Bata, who went on to play for Valley City State, watched his Tornadoes lead 18-10 after one quarter and never look back.
Bryce Meehl continued his steady scoring ways with 20 points. Stephen Quandt added 16, while Tristan Meier and Ethan Zetocha each put in 12.
The Rebels got another strong night from J.R. Perleberg, who could not be contained. Perleberg poured in 30 points for the Rebels, with 10 of them coming in the third quarter.

LaMoure-Litchville-Marion hung 27 first-quarter points on the board and never looked back in a tidy win over Central Prairie.
Anthony Olson, Jared Meiklejohn and Brady Thielges had matching 15-point performances for the Loboes. Drew Thielges was also in double figures with 10.
Alex Eissinger accounted for 14 of Central Prairie’s total.

Adam White had a game-leading 19 points for Ellendale. James Johnston had 13.

Trayvon McKay poured in 22 points to lead the Indians while Austin Longie followed right behind with 21. Collin Delorme (14) and Hadley Smith (11) also were over 10 in their ninth win in 11 games.
Jalen Steele topped Standing Rock with 16.

Noelle Moser was the lone Firebird in double figures with 10. Madi Moldenhauer added eight.

Emily Berge was a load down low, hitting for 26 points in Midkota’s triumph over Griggs County Central.
Berge poured in 17 of her 26 in the first half as the Mustangs built a commanding 51-19 lead at the break after a serious 31-point second quarter. Saddie Harding added 16 in the win, while Shaye Ronningen, returning from injury, popped in 13.
Presley Paintner’s nine points led the Mustangs.
