Kelly passing on NFL?

CLEVELAND (AP) — Chip Kelly wouldn’t jump. So the Browns bailed.

A person familiar with Cleveland’s coaching search said the team is no longer considering Kelly for its coaching vacancy after the offensive mastermind nearly reached an agreement with the Browns on Friday. The 49-year-old Kelly was indecisive about making the leap to the NFL and the team decided to move on to other candidates.

The Browns questioned whether Kelly “was committed to coming to the NFL.” ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported Kelly was seriously considering staying at Oregon.

Bills to hire Marrone

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Doug Marrone is set to try to turn around the Buffalo Bills.

The 48-year-old Marrone, who is from the Bronx, went 25-25 in four seasons at Syracuse, which is his alma mater.
