Work-related deaths set record in 2011

The U.S. Department of Labor said North Dakota recorded a record 44 work-related deaths in 2011.

BISMARCK (AP) — The U.S. Department of Labor said North Dakota recorded a record 44 work-related deaths in 2011.

The agency said that was up from 30 work-related deaths in 2010.

Officials said it was the largest over-the-year increase since the series began in 1992.

Fatal occupational injuries in the state were at the lowest level in 1992, when 20 deaths were reported.
