The Jamestown Sophistikix dance team placed fourth in the High Kick division on Dec. 15 at the BHS Dance Competition in Bismarck. There were 10 class A teams that competed in the category.

Coach Deb Hanson said the placing was “quite a feat for this year’s Sophistikix as this is the first trophy received since winning fifth place in the Jazz division at the 2006 State NDADD competition.”

“Granted, this is early in the season and our state competition is not until the end of January … we will need to strategically plan for the rest of our season,” she added. “We know that our team will continue to show growth and improve our elements of our dance — but then we also know that the other class A teams in the state will do the same.

She said she is “confident” they team will excel this season.

The results from the BHS competition:

First: Bismarck High

Second: Bismarck Century

Third: Fargo North

Fourth: Jamestown

Fifth: Fargo Davies

Sixth: Minot
