The Blue Jays piled up six pins en route to an easy 58-22 dual victory over Devils Lake on Tuesday night.
Jamestown also got a major decision in the mismatch.
“We knew it was one of those where we were going to be really disappointed if we didn’t win,” JHS coach Greg White said. “It was a really good effort by the whole team.”
Brandyn Harr had the quickest 6-pointer of the night, sticking Jayce Moor in just 18 seconds at 160 pounds. Keith Shahin only needed 51 seconds at 145, while Jaden Horsted (126) and Paxton Mewes (113) didn’t need much more than a minute.
Caleb Ellingson (170) and Eathan Gumke (182) also won by fall. Triston Shipley followed those two pins with a major decision at 195.
The Blue Jays went into the match spotted 18 points on forfeits, but didn’t slack.
“When you’re up 18 points going in you worry you might be overconfident or lack focus, but that wasn’t the case,” White said. “The kids took care of business.”
The Blue Jays have their first home meet of the season tonight when they host Bismarck St. Mary’s at 7 p.m. All region matches are big for JHS. Winning out would likely secure a spot in the team portion of the state meet next month at the Fargodome.
