Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Chairman Richard McCloud is slated to address lawmakers about the relationship between North Dakota's American Indian tribal governments and the state government.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Chairman Richard McCloud is slated to address lawmakers about the relationship between North Dakota's American Indian tribal governments and the state government.

McCloud's speech will be to a joint session of the North Dakota House and Senate on Thursday.

By tradition, tribal officials address the Legislature in its opening week.

Three Affiliated Tribes Chairman Tex Hall addressed the Legislature two years ago. Spirit Lake Nation chairwoman Myra Pearson made the tribal speech in 2009.
