Two state-ranked teams squared off in?LaMoure on Thursday night.

Despite a fierce rally from ninth-ranked LaMoure-Litchville-Marion, No. 5 Carrington held on for a 58-55 victory in Class B boys basketball action.

Seth Abaurrea had 19 points to lead the Cardinals (9-0), who also received 13 from Scott Burnham and 10 from Austin?Johnson. They held a 32-20 lead at halftime before the Loboes went to work.

Brady Thielges led L-L-M (8-2) with 22 points and Jared Meiklejohn finished with 21.

Barnes County North outscored New Rockford-Sheyenne 10-8 in overtime to finish off a come-from-behind win.

The Bison trailed 20-10 after a fast start by the Rockets, but had it down to for at halftime and one after three.

T.J. Steckler hit for 17 points for the Bison, while Jacoby Kramlich had 16 and Brad Clemens 11.

Jacob Lommen topped the Rockets with 16 points. Josh Edmonson added 12 as they fell to 6-4.

Carrington rolled past Harvey-Wells County and then dropped a tight one to Central Cass in Class B wrestling action on Thursday night.

Four Cardinals went unbeaten on the day with Seth Zink racking up 12 points on a pair of pins at 170 pounds.

Patrick Freeman registered a major decision and a pin at 138. Chaz Bauer had a pin as part of a 2-0 day at 126 and 160-pounder Riley Lura also picked up two contested victories for the Cardinals.

Carrington beat the Hornets 73-6, while the Squirrels won the second dual 41-30.
