Jamestown Fire Department calls:

Jan. 4: 3:13 p.m., ready squad responded to 2400 Eighth Ave. SW (Buffalo Mall) to investigate a fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke and fire but none was found. Cause: systems malfunction. Fire alarm was reset. Time out: 25 minutes.

Jan. 4: 11:11 p.m., ready squad responded to 1530 Fifth Ave. SW (single-family dwelling) to investigate a carbon monoxide detector activation. Firefighters checked for carbon monoxide and 120 parts per million were detected. Firefighters advised occupants to leave house and have gas-fired equipment serviced by a qualified firm or individual. Cause: unknown. Time out: 45 minutes.

Jan. 5: 7:51 p.m., ready squad responded to 2604 12th Ave. NE (United Technologies Corp.) to investigate a water flow alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke and fire but none was found. Cause: systems malfunction. Fire alarm was rest. Time out: 40 minutes.

Jan. 9: 1:32 p.m., Jamestown Fire Department responded to 1510 11th Ave. NE (multi-family dwelling) for a report of smoke. Firefighters checked and ventilated smoke from building. Cause: Burned food. Time out: 20 minutes.

Jan. 9: 3:49 p.m., ready squad responded to 914 Fifth Ave. SE (single-family dwelling) to investigate carbon monoxide detector activation. Firefighters checked for carbon monoxide and none was detected. Cause: detector malfunction. Time out: 15 minutes.

Jan. 10: 8:13 p.m., ready squad responded 612 14th Ave. SE (single-family dwelling) to investigate a natural gas smell. Firefighters checked for natural gas, but none was found. Cause: unknown. Time out: 30 minutes.
