Jan. 4: 3:13 p.m., ready squad responded to 2400 Eighth Ave. SW (Buffalo Mall) to investigate a fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke and fire but none was found. Cause: systems malfunction. Fire alarm was reset. Time out: 25 minutes.
Jan. 4: 11:11 p.m., ready squad responded to 1530 Fifth Ave. SW (single-family dwelling) to investigate a carbon monoxide detector activation. Firefighters checked for carbon monoxide and 120 parts per million were detected. Firefighters advised occupants to leave house and have gas-fired equipment serviced by a qualified firm or individual. Cause: unknown. Time out: 45 minutes.
