Otter Tail project topic at Kiwanis
Charles Krebs introduced Ritchie Wolff, senior area engineer for Otter Tail Power Co., who spoke to Kiwanis members on one of its business projects. Wolff has been with Otter Tail Power Co. for 34 years. He discussed the electric line project the company is doing to replace conductors in Jamestown. Because of the Great River Energy plant being built, the conductors are now too small and they may be using some or all of GRE’s power.

The project includes replacing more than 90 poles and wires. It will impact the community as Otter Tail will need to block off some streets as employees do the work. They are starting by the First Assembly of God church, Wolff said. This project will take many trucks and a lot of materials. When they get closer to town by the college and nursing home, they will have to start blocking off streets, he said. They will be stringing in fiber optics and lightning protection also. The job has to be completed by Nov. 1.
Janna Bergstedt led the meeting with 20 members attending. Lt. Mitch Brecto led the singing a cappella. It was noted that March 2 is the next Kids Against Hunger event and it will be at the Buffalo Mall. Kiwanis needs $10,000 to do this event and at the present time, the club has collected $3,500. Anyone wishing to send in checks for this event can send to: Janna Bergstedt at First Community Credit Union in Jamestown.
