Neumiller also reported that this is the Elkettes 40th year. The club will have some activities that will reflect that first year, such as Hats of Yesteryear with hats of members’ own creation, and an Easter Bonnet Parade in April. In May the club will honor all past presidents. Joyce Heinrich located a picture album of the 1973 Elkettes group when Cele Morud was the first president.
Penny Orr designed T-shirts saying “Elkettes 40 Years of Fun.”
The group took a moment to remember Hazel Swan who recently died. Swan was president from 1986 to 1987.
Angie informed the members a nominating committee is needed to seek prospective officers. This will be discussed further in February.
Heinrich told the group about Cabin Fever Days, scheduled Feb. 1 to 9. The club will host Souper Saturday on Feb. 2, asking members to bring their favorite soup recipes to the Elks. Call 269-0082 for more information. The Elks is sponsoring a golf team for that event.
Virginia Swan was introduced as a guest and also new member. The February dinner drawing was Nita Dura.
Anyone interested in joining the Elkettes may attend meetings on the second Wednesday of the month from September through May at 324 Second Ave. SW (former MDU building).
