Jamestown’s blue-chip wrestlers pulled their weight at the Storhaug Invitational on Friday night in Lisbon.
Jaden Horsted (132), Zane Braun (152) and Eathan Gumke (170) each made today’s semifinals.
“Overall, we wrestled pretty well,” Jamestown coach Greg White said. “All three did a nice job getting to where they are.”
Jamestown has seven of the 11 wrestlers it brought still alive, with four getting their shot at scoring points in the wrestlebacks.
“That’s where you move up in tournaments,” White said. “The top three are gonna get some more (points), but they don’t get as many matches from here on out.”
Jamestown sits in eight place with 48.5 points, just ahead of Napoleon (48).
Lisbon is on top with 77 points, while South Border is second with 75. Central Cass (65.5), Carrington (64.5) and Oakes (61.5) round out the top five.
Carrington has five wrestlers in the semifinals in Lucas Brown (106), Chaz Bauer (126), Walker Carr (132), Patrick Freeman (138) and Cordell Schroeder (285).
South Border put four in the semifinals in Tyler Toepke-Floyd (106), Blake Bosch (126), James Thielges (182) and Tanner Meidinger (195).
Napoleon also had four in Jonathan Grunefelder (132), Mathew Gross (160), Nicholas Becker (170) and Andrew Beine (220).
LaMoure’s Brent Hebl (120) and Logan Schockman (220) made semis, as did Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm’s Dylan Schnabel (195).
