Williams, Djokovic win in Australia

Serena Williams stayed on track for a third consecutive Grand Slam title with a 6-1, 6-3 win Saturday over Ayumi Morita in the third round of the Australian Open.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Serena Williams stayed on track for a third consecutive Grand Slam title with a 6-1, 6-3 win Saturday over Ayumi Morita in the third round of the Australian Open.

Williams, who won last year's Wimbledon and U.S. Open titles, showed no discomfort from the right ankle injury she sustained in the first round.

She'll play her fourth-round match against Maria Kirilenko, who beat Yanina Wickmeyer earlier Saturday.

Novak Djokovic won his 17th straight match at the Australian Open, beating Radek Stepanek 6-4, 6-3, 7-5 in the third round Friday.

Djokovic, the two-time defending champion at Melbourne Park who also won the title in 2008, is hoping to become the first man in the Open era to win three consecutive Australian Open titles.

Nine other men have won back-to-back Australian titles since the Open era began in 1968.
