* Bravo to North Dakota’s nursing homes having the lowest rate of serious deficiencies out of all 50 states over the past three years. Figures compiled by ProPublica found that North Dakota’s rate of serious deficiencies per nursing home was 0.01, compared to 0.13 in Minnesota.
* Buffalo chip to the rise in deaths caused by motor vehicle crashes statewide, which is significantly linked to the oil boom out west. Almost half of the state’s 169 road fatalities in in 2012 happened in the northwest region.
* Bravo to Luca and Jonas Flann, the brothers who donated a combined $300 to the Arts Center’s Arts After School program.
* Bravo to the project to restore the century-old stained glass windows at St. James Basilica. The $325,000-plus project was paid for by with a donation from Jon and Lori Wanzek, Fargo.
