BISMARCK (AP) — A drop in enrollment left Bismarck State College dealing with a $650,000 budget shortfall.

College President Larry Skogen told state lawmakers recently that BSC’s fall 2012 enrollment was 4,109 students, a 6.4 percent drop from the previous year. The Bismarck Tribune reported that it was the college’s first enrollment decrease since 2005. Skogen said that’s understandable given the strong economy in the state.
