Melvin M. Fode, 94, Jamestown, ND died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center. Melvin was born April 11, 1918 in Jud, ND, the son of Christ and Emilia (Wegner) Fode. He grew and attended school in the Jud area, graduating from Jud High School.

Melvin was born April 11, 1918 in Jud, ND, the son of Christ and Emilia (Wegner) Fode. He grew and attended school in the Jud area, graduating from Jud High School. Melvin entered the US Army on March 26, 1942 and served during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged on November 4, 1945 at Ft. Sill, OK. Upon his return to North Dakota he attended Dakota Business College in Fargo. On November 14, 1953 Melvin married Frances Dathe in Grand Rapids, ND. He worked for Midwest Motors as a bookkeeper/accountant and later for Don Frederick, Inc.

Melvin was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 14. He enjoyed golfing, gardening and collecting antiques.

Melvin is survived by a brother, Harvey Fode, Forman, ND; sister, Evelyn Good, LaMoure, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and three brothers, John, Donald and Wilbert.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Lucinda Lien officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Friday, January 25, 2013 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
