Bette Doehler, 79, has been a resident of Ave Maria Village since Jan. 23, 2012.
On Saturday, her son John Doehler married Carol Davis at AMV’s Barthel Hall.
“This is a great day for all of us, but especially for Bette because she was able to be part of the wedding by having the wedding brought to her,” Carol said.
The bride wore a diamond white wedding gown with Bette’s diamond bracelet to complete her attire.
“Mom’s life is better here because of the care she receives from the AMV staff,” John Doehler said. “It is a great day.”
Bette’s grandson, John James “JJ” Doehler, was his father’s best man and JJ’s wife Sage was Carol’s maid of honor. The Rev. Roy Noel, pastor at Zoar Lutheran Church in LaMoure, N.D., conducted the ceremony.
Forty friends and relatives attended the afternoon wedding that was followed by refreshments.
“My son is a lucky guy,” Bette said.
A wedding album is posted on AMV’s Facebook page, which can be found at http://on.fb.me/ Xxd2AH.
