Letter to the editor: Having guns in schools not the answer to violence

Filling our schools with guns is absurd. History is full of ways madmen have found ways to carry out their evil acts; bows and arrows, machetes, axes, knives, homemade bombs, hammers, chainsaws, baseball bats, crowbars, burning, etc. Alcohol, illicit street and prescription drugs are destroying more and more lives and families every day.

And may I remind President Barack Obama slavery has not been abolished in America. Many youngsters in our nation are being used and sold as sex slaves. They must be rescued. How about surrounding your podium with young people decrying such acts and the slaughter of babies?

Even if “Big Brother” ordered every gun turned in, you would not see the last of school shootings.

Instead of guns, put prayer and the Ten Commandments back in the classroom, as we had in our one-room rural schools.

Little children are spiritual and creative and should be heard.
