Jan. 11: 2:40 p.m., the ready squad responded to 901 Second Ave. NW (single-family dwelling) to investigate a carbon monoxide detector activation. Firefighters checked for carbon monoxide and none was detected. Cause: detector malfunction. Time out: 15 minutes.

Jan. 14: 3:10 a.m. ready squad responded to 1017 James Ave, (single-family dwelling) to investigate odor. Firefighters checked for smoke and fire but none was found. Cause: unknown. Time out: 45 minutes.

Jan. 18: 1:10 p.m., ready squad responded to 601 Eighth Ave. NW (single-family dwelling) to investigate carbon monoxide detector activation. Firefighters checked for carbon monoxide and none was detected. Cause: detector malfunction. Time out: 25 minutes.

Jan. 18: 2:05 p.m., ready squad responded to 1300 Second Place NE (Eventide at Hi-Acres) to investigate a fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke and fire but none was found. Cause: cooking. Fire alarm was reset. Time out: 15 minutes.

Jan. 19: 9:13 p.m., fire department responded to 1510 11th Ave. NE (multi-family dwelling) to a report of smoke in the hallway. Firefighters found smoke in the hallway but no fire. Firefighters extracted smoke from the structure and investigated. Cause: unattended cooking. No firefighter injuries. Fire alarm was reset. Time out: 35 minutes.

Jan. 22: 6:16 a.m., ready squad responded to 921 25th St. SW (Walmart parking lot) to a report of a diesel spill. Firefighters checked the area; employees from Walmart had put down absorbent to contain the spill. Spill was reported to the North Dakota Health Department and cleaned up by a contractor. Time out: 10 minutes.

Jan. 24: 9:45 a.m., fire department responded to 419 Fifth St. NE (Legacy Apartments) to a report of smoke coming from the basement. Building was evacuated. Firefighters extinguished a small fire in a crawl space and investigated. Cause: cutting torch. No firefighter injuries. Time out: 55 minutes.

Jan. 25: 4:15 a.m., ready squad responded to 606 10th St. NE (multi-family dwelling) to investigate smoke smell. Firefighters checked for smoke and fire but none was found. Cause: unattended cooking. Time out: 30 minutes.
