Opening statements set in ND murder trial
Opening statements in the trial of a Somali man accused of killing the mother of his child and three other people in Minot are scheduled to start Monday.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Opening statements in the trial of a Somali man accused of killing the mother of his child and three other people in Minot are scheduled to start Monday.
The Minot Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/14gUWth) that 12 jurors and four alternates have been selected in the trial of 28-year-old Omar Mohamed Kalmio. Kalmio has pleaded not guilty to murder in the shooting deaths of 19-year-old Sabrina Zephier and her brother, mother and her mother's boyfriend.
Sabrina Zephier's body was found in her home on Jan. 28, 2011. The baby was unharmed. The bodies of the others were found the same day in another home.
Kalmio is a Somali national.
Opening statements will start Monday at 8:45 a.m. at the Ward County Courthouse.
