ND Guard unit might see overseas duty next year

A North Dakota Army National Guard unit has been notified that it might be called to duty in Afghanistan.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota Army National Guard unit has been notified that it might be called to duty in Afghanistan.

The 814th Medical Company is based in Bismarck and has a detachment in Grand Forks. If the unit is mobilized, about 65 soldiers would begin serving overseas early next year, for up to a year.

It would be the first deployment for the unit in the war on terror.
