Unknown mechanical failure was the cause of a car fire Thursday afternoon, according to the Jamestown Fire Department.

Lt. Sheldon Mohr said a 2000 Buick LeSabre was parked and running in the parking lot of the Unison Bank, 401 First Ave. S., when it caught fire. The fire department was called out at 12:54 p.m. with 30 firefighters and four trucks responding to the scene. The responders were on scene for 45 minutes.

Mohr said no one was injured and the fire was contained to the engine compartment. He didn’t have a monetary amount for the damage, but said the damage was equal to the value of the vehicle.
