Search under way for escaped parolee

A search is under way for a parolee with Davison County ties who absconded from the Community Transition Program in Sioux Falls.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — A search is under way for a parolee with Davison County ties who absconded from the Community Transition Program in Sioux Falls.

Jarod Shoemaker, 31, was assigned to the Community Transition Program at Unit C, the minimum-security unit of the Jameson Annex to the South Dakota State Penitentiary. He left the program Monday morning without authorization.

Shoemaker is a white male with brown hair and green eyes. He is 6-feet-1 and weighs approximately 190 pounds. He was originally sentenced to 10-year concurrent sentences for escape out of Yankton County (Yankton, S.D.) and possession of a weapon by an inmate out of Davison County (Mitchell, S.D.).

Anyone who sees Shoemaker or knows of his whereabouts should contact law enforcement immediately.
