Schulz takes silver at Winter Games

Jamestown’s Blaine Schulz will bring home a silver medal when he returns from the Special Olympics Winter World Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. Competing in his fifth Special Olympics World Games, Schulz earned the silver in the 200-meter snowshoe run M20 Division final held Sunday with a time of 32.74 seconds.

Jamestown’s Blaine Schulz will bring home a silver medal when he returns from the Special Olympics Winter World Games in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Competing in his fifth Special Olympics World Games, Schulz earned the silver in the 200-meter snowshoe run M20 Division final held Sunday with a time of 32.74 seconds.

He did not fare as well in the 400-meter snowshoe run where he took seventh in the M8 Division final held Tuesday, 1:34.50.

Blaine was also part of the 4x400-meter snowshoe relay team which took fourth in the MI Division final on Sunday, 6:45.95.

The Special Olympics divides competitors into divisions based on their athletic skill level. Athletes of similar skill levels are placed in the same division.
