BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's Congressional delegation says the state is receiving a $1.1 million federal flood recovery grant to buy out six properties in Ward County.
The funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be used to purchase five proprieties in Logan and one is in Burlington that experienced significant flood damage and are at risk for future flooding.
The announcement was made Thursday by U.S. Sens. John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp and U.S. Rep. Kevin Cramer.
The delegation said in a joint statement that the funding will help families and communities recover from the 2011 flood.
The grant is part of FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, which aims to provide state and local governments with long-term solutions for areas that have experienced disaster.
