A pair of Region 4 girls basketball powers went at it on Thursday night.

Carrington led after every break, getting 14 points from Nikki?Braaten in a 45-32 District 7 win over Midkota in?Carrington.

Breana Barton added 12 points for the Cardinals, who led 22-19 at halftime and outscored Midkota 12-2 in the third quarter.

Midkota’s Saddie Harding had 13 points, while Shaye Ronningen chipped in 10.

The Pirates gave the No. 3-ranked Imperials a battle in Napoleon, but Sheridon Dewald’s 19-point effort lifted the Imperials to the 9-point victory.

The score was all knotted up at 13-13 after the first period, but Napoleon’s Mariah Jangula broke loose for 8 of her 12 points to help the home team outscore its opponent 17-11 in the frame to take a 30-24 lead into the half.

The Pirates received a nice effort from its 1-2 punch of Mary Nicholson and Sadie Rohrich. Nicholson tossed in 19 points, while Rohrich wasn’t far behind scoring 16.
