Hornets edge Rebels in overtime

Harvey-Wells County outscored Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal 6-5 in overtime to earn a narrow 46-45 victory, getting the winning shot from Santana Schneider at the buzzer in Class B girls basketball action on Saturday.

Harvey-Wells County outscored Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal 6-5 in overtime to earn a narrow 46-45 victory, getting the winning shot from Santana Schneider at the buzzer in Class B girls basketball action on Saturday.

Haley Fornshell sank three 3-pointers en route to a 20-point game for the Hornets.

Shantel Albrecht and Jenna Van Ray posted matching 15-point performances for the Rebels.

Both teams struggled from the stripe. The Hornets missed 11 free throws, while the Rebels were just 4-for-16.

LaMoure-Litchville-Marion overcame a slow start to rally past South Border.

The Loboes trailed 13-9 after the opening frame, but held the Mustangs to just two second-quarter points.

Tanys Ulmer and Courtney Carlson posted matching 15-point contests to top the Loboes, although they did miss 11 of 24 free throws.

Kali Scherbenske topped South Border with 15 points.

Ellendale zoomed to a 25-point first quarter and that was more than enough to roll over Lisbon.

The Cardinals sank 24 of 28 free throws in the win as they had 41 points at halftime.

Madilyn Bommersbach topped all scorers in the game with 20 points for Ellendale. Dacey Fuller (15), Kirsten Rall (13) and Isabel Wedell (12) also were in double figures for the Cardinals.

Three Broncos were in double figures, led by Payton Ercink’s 13 points, which included a trio of 3s.

Austin Johnson made seven of 11 shots to lead a hot-shooting night for the Cardinals in a comfortable win over Velva.

Johnson had 21 points, Taylor Skytland 13 and Scott Burnham 12 as Carrington shot 49 percent (25-for-51) for the game. Johnson added 10 rebounds for the double-double. Seth Abaurrea had five assists and four steals in the game.

Drew Effertz added 15 to lead the Aggies.

Towner-Granville-Upham outscored Harvey-Wells County 8-7 in overtime to nip the Hornets.

The Hornets led after each of the first three quarters, including 35-29, but could not finish it off. Andrew Alveshere sank six 3-pointers to lead all scorers with 22 points. Koby Houchin was also in double figures with 10.

Luke Bacon led three Towner-Granville-Upham players in double figures with with 19 points.
