Field set for men’s A.I.I. tournament

The field is set for the Association of Independent Institutions basketball tournament, which will be held at the Jamestown Civic Center Feb. 22-24.

Jamestown College (12-16) will be joined by Rochester (18-3) of Michigan, Valley City State (20-6), Dakota State (18-8), Ashford (17-10) of Iowa and Northern New Mexico (11-16).

The two teams that advance to the championship game qualify for a trip to nationals in Point Lookout, Mo., March 6-12.

The Jimmies are 3-3 against the field, going 2-1 against VCSU splitting a pair with Dakota State and losing at Northern New Mexico over the holidays. The Jimmies play the rubber match with the Trojans on Wednesday when the Madison, S.D., school is here for a doubleheader, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with the women’s game.

Jamestown College closes out the regular season on Sunday afternoon with a road trip to Mayville to face the Comets.

The final seeding for the tournament will be released after the final games are played Sunday.
